Xiaomi Black Shark

Xiaomi backed Black Shark gaming Smartphone has finally arrived on the scene. The device is a result of Xiaomi’s investment in Black Shark Technology; a China-based gaming company that will most probably blend into the MI ecosystem.

Black and green hue combination is no surprise to those who are familiar with the Razer Phone (another gaming smartphone), perhaps the only matching up competitor of the Xiaomi Black Shark today.

Attractive green chamfered edges and a glowing “S” at the back pulls off a chic gaming appearance. Apart from looks, the company is boasting about a multi-stage “liquid cooling” system; a terminology which was previously used for heat pipe-style cooling solutions on smartphones like the Lumia 950. However, it’s not the same thing that you’d see on a gaming PC. Anyhow, Black Shark is claiming temperature drop of 8 degree Celsius with it.

Xiaomi Black Shark Specification And Price

Xiaomi Black Shark offers a customized hardware to achieve the best gaming performance out of a smartphone. It includes a new ISP and cooling system that we discussed earlier.

The company has integrated a 5.99-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 IPS LCD, Full HD+ resolution, and 97 percent DCI-P3 coverage.

The device has the latest Snapdragon 845 SoC (as leaked) with the standard kyro 385 cores and Adreno 630 GPU for graphics output. Though, the company has not mentioned a high refresh rate display, contrasting to Razer Phone.

Gaming devices do suck a lot of power. Understandably the Xiaomi Black Shark is power with a massive 4000mAh battery for a longer performance. However, we can only comment on the sustainability of the battery after concluding tests post its release after 20th April.

Ditching the microSD slot, Black Shark is available in two variants—6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, and 8GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage. A new image processing chip by MEMC provides sharper colors and smooth performance when required.

For a better grip, the Black Shark body of the phone is an X-shape, and the frame is also utilized as an antenna.

The Black Shark has one speaker, though the earpiece lends support for a Biso stereo sound. The microphone of the device is gaming-oriented, it has the ability to provide simple usage of voice call and radio chat while playing without interference.

Like Nintendo switch, you can attach a Gamepad to Black Shark. The company will be providing the gamepad for free to first 50,000 buyers. The device comes with a 340mAh battery and connectivity via Bluetooth. You can also find a dedicated “Shark” button on the left side which allows you to channel all hardware resources to your game so you can get all the available performance.

You can click pictures with the dual camera setup on the back of the Black Shark, it is capable of capturing images with 12 megapixels f/1.75 + 20 MP f/1.75 with 6P lens and dual-LED flash. 1.25 µm is the pixel size of the first sensor, while the other sensor has 1 µm pixels. The front camera has the similar 20-megapixel sensor but the slower f/2.2 lens.

The phone comes with Android Oreo, coupled with JOY UI, which is a custom launcher that shares its apps with Xiaomi’s MIUI.
