As per the renowned tipster Kacper Skrzypek, Xiaomi is preparing a new RAM extension feature in MIUI. A screenshot of the feature has been shared as well, and references to the same were found in the MIUI strings. As a result, MIUI RAM extension lets a part of the internal storage to act as a virtual RAM for better multitasking and to keep apps on the RAM for a longer period of time. According to the screenshot, RAM extension will use 1GB of storage as RAM, and the company advises users to activate it unless they have sufficient internal storage.

However, it is not entirely new, as Vivo and OPPO already offer it on their smartphones as well. For instance, Vivo X60 Pro Plus keeps 3GB of storage to be utilized as virtual RAM, which boosts the total RAM to 15 GB. And the company is said to provide the same facet on the upcoming Vivo V21.  But, it is not confirmed when the memory extension feature will be coming to MIUI- or even which smartphone will have it first. And it is our hope that this extension feature will not be restricted to the High-end phones by Xiaomi--as it will be useful for slightly older devices with small RAM capacity and enhance their output.

Separately, Digital Chat Station reports Xiaomi is developing a smartphone with a massive 200MP camera sensor. The 200MP camera sensor will be developed by Samsung and there has been speculation that Samsung Galaxy S22 flagships will use the same ISOCELL sensor. The 200MP sensor will have a 0.64-micron pixel size, 1.28-micron pixels, and measures 1/1.37-inches in size. It will offer 4-in-1 and 16-in-1 pixel binning technology that will assist reduce noise in images.
